If the two sides look different after breast surgery, is the surgery to blame?👀 In fact, breasts often have some degree of left-right asymmetry even before surgery. Depending on the degree of asymmetry, different implant sizes may be chosen, but if the difference isn't large, the same size may be used on both sides. ✔ Why breast asymmetry happens ✔ When different implant sizes are used ✔ Why asymmetry bothers people more after surgery A board-certified plastic surgeon explains in detail.

If the left and right sides are very different, I'll switch sizes like this in the operating room and make them as similar as I can. But if the difference is borderline, putting in different sizes
could actually flip it the other way, and there's no need for that, so I'll use the same size. If I use the same size, the difference you had before will still be there, but after surgery, for some reason, the asymmetry bothers people more.
Because before surgery, nobody stands in front of the mirror admiring their breasts for 10 minutes, but after surgery, a lot of people do. And so, “Oh! The left and right are a little different,” that's the kind of thing they might notice at that point.
So I explain that some of the difference that was already there is bound to remain.
