When a mother comes in with her son or daughter and they don't see eye to eye, or when the child doesn't want plastic surgery at all, but the mother is saying, “You're doing this, no matter what,” and that's how they ended up here, it honestly puts me in a tough spot too. They've come a long way, after all.
So for now, I'll show them some design options for the areas they're interested in, or give them a detailed consultation, but I tell them not to decide that same day. I ask them to go home and have a good, long talk with their child, and if the child still really doesn't want it at all,
then I usually tell them to take a little more time to think it over. Because it's their own face, and even if it's family, even a parent, surgery done because a third party pushed for it is bound to be less satisfying.
