The traits of people whose swelling lasts a long time after surgery can be structural or physical, and they can also be related to lifestyle. People with somewhat thicker skin definitely seem to have swelling that lasts longer. Beyond that, there are people whose lymphatic circulation isn't great, and in terms of lifestyle, people who keep drinking and smoking.
And it can definitely vary depending on how much effort you put into getting the swelling down. After surgery, things like using ice packs, cold compresses or warm compresses properly, walking around a lot to help the swelling go down faster, or, when you're lying down, propping your head up on a pillow above heart level to get the swelling
down faster. If you make efforts like these, compared to people who don't, you can see better results.
